March Challenge 7 Dots Studio

Image
While looking for a project to do today while scrapping with my lovely friend Kim Ewins I came across the current  March Challenge at 7 Dots studio. The colours were just perfect for this pic of my gorgeous friend Vicky and I taken in August last year. I had purchased the beautiful Northern lights collection quite a while ago but had put off using it as it was too nice and I didn't want to waste it (who hasn't done that) but I held my breath and starting ripping and distressing. The colours were what drew me to the mood board more so than the theme.  I used some stunning flowers from 49 and Market, and a spray of crystal drops which again matched up with the board. Also added to the page were some yummy Scrapmatts leave sprays which I painted with a green mist. Thanks heaps for looking Cheers Annette

Kraft + February Challenge: Good Reads

Image
I loved the challenge at Kraft +  Kraft + Good reads challenge and have just managed to get my page done and uploaded before it ended. I love to read and will read just about any genre as long as the book keeps me interested. The book that I have done this page on is a timeless Australian classic, Seven Little Australians by Ethel Turner. I remember reading this as a young teen and loved all the characters. I still to this day shed a tear when Judy dies. I never had a copy of the book but when I was in Katoomba one day I went to an antique shop that had a book section and found this copy. It is battered and well worn which didn't concern me but the thing I found surprising was on the inside cover there was an awarded to sticker. The book was awarded to Millie Carter, Mole Creek Methodist Church Sunday School, Year 7 1941, that makes this copy 78 years old!!!! It is a beautiful old book that is a great addition to my collection. I have used book pages on the page as well a...

More than words - November Challenge

Image
I'm really liking the November Challenge  at More than words and found it was just perfect for these pics of my son Shaun at his first visit to the beach. He really loved it right up until the time he rubbed his eyes and got sand in them, after that it went pretty downhill with one very unhappy little man. I really enjoyed doing this page and used Kaisers Sandy toes range (one of my favs), some gorgeous Green Tara flowers, yummy Scrapmatt chippies, shells, blue seed beads, Stampendous Steel blue crushed glass glitter, Wow embossing powder Primary Chartreuse, White embossing powder and other bits and pieces. I used Gel medium to adhere all the small beads etc and then flicked the page with Jack Frost Glimmer Spray. The word inspiration Outdoors is on the page and the theme of the page is Outdoors as well. The creative challenge Woodgrain is on the background PP, hello badge and the alphas used in the word outdoors. Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspi...

Kraft plus November Challenge

Image
So the November Challenge at Kraft Plus is Think Big . While I had a few pics that I thought would work for this challenge I decided on this one of a beautiful and majestic tiger at Mogo Zoo. His eyes locked with mine as I was taking his picture and it was a very surreal moment, I felt as though he could see into my soul. I used a mix of pp for this page some old Kaiser basecoat, Prima timeless memories, 2 crafty chippies, hessian, old book paper. Behind the pic is some stencilling using TCW mini butterfly collage and of course a Big B which I embossed with Colour blast charcoal and then rubbed some orange paint over it. Thanks to the Kraft plus team for a great challenge. Cheers to all Annette

More than words mini challenge

Image
So I saw the October mini challenge  at More than words and thought well I'm on a roll here, lets keep going. I used the work FINE on a card and added some bits and pieces but really kept it pretty simple Thanks to More than words for a great couple of challenges. Cheers all Annette

More than words challenge

Image
I just loved the October Challenge  at More than words. Word Inspiration - DELICATE Creative Challenge - FABRICS What does the word DELICATE inspire you to create? You can choose to use the actual word somewhere on your project  or simply be inspired by it.  Since, as you are aware, words  are an integral  part of our challenges, we want to know  how this month's word stimulated  your creative process,  so please do explain in your blog post how it inspired you! For our creative challenge this month, we ask that you incorporate on your project some type(s) of FABRIC! You can decide to either do some lacing with your favourite satin ribbon, include a lovely piece of vintage lace, decorate with some burlap or even go trendy by adding a touch of denim. Dress up your project in whatever textile your creative heart fancies! I was particularly drawn to the word DELICATE and knew that these pics I took of a dandelion flower were ab...

Stuck?!: October 15th Challenge

Image
So the second challenge I did a layout for is the October 15th Challenge at Stuck?! Sketches, October 15th Challenge . Really liked the Sketch for this Challenge It was perfect for this last picture of my beautiful dog Wombat who crossed over the rainbow bridge on the 22nd September this year. He was not quite 17 and was the most gentle, loving and incredible dog that I have had the privilege of being part of our lives. Unfortunately his arthritis became that bad a decision had to be made. He took a piece of my heart with him and he will never be forgotten. For this page I used some old 7 dots studio Lost and Found paper, washi tape, jute ribbon and lots of bits and pieces from my stash. Cheers all Annette

Latest challenge at Kraft plus

Image
Yes it has been like forever since I last blogged. Life does tend to get busy and things, like a blog, do tend to be neglected. Can't say that this will change but we all live in hope. So I had a lovely scrappy weekend with my two gorgeous friends Kim Ewins and Rachel Funnell and looking for something to scrap came across the latest challenge at Kraft Plus, I can see clearly now , I can see clearly now, you have to use something see through. I found some photo overlays that I have had for quite a while and used it under the lovely pic of my Dad (deceased) and my son. Really fitted in so well with everything, used also some yummy scrapmatts chippies, Jillibean alphas and some old Echo Park pp. This was the first time that my Dad had seen his latest Grandson and I love the look on his face. Cheers to all Annette

Black & White

Image
Black & White + Kraft, what a great combo for the latest challenge at Kraft Plus Challlenge . I had the perfect pic of my gorgeous neice Clohe and used Kaiser Art is Life pp, stamping around the edges was inspired by Kraft Board #2 as was the use of the die cut doily shape thingys. From my stash were the two cute little Melissa Francis resin frames and flowers. Bakers twine, ribbon and black gems were from old embellie kits from My2angels scrapping shop. Lindys Stamp Gang Spray in Frozen Jack Frost was perfect for the splatters.. Thanks for looking. Love and Hugs Annette

October Challenge - ARTastic

Image
I stumbled across this lovely challenge blog via my friend Kim Ewins and really like their October Challenge. The challenges are based around a piece of artwork with other criteria and for this month the added was a vintage style. This is the artwork for October a beautiful painting titled 'The Green Parasol" by E Phillips Fox My take on the Challenge has these lovely old pictures of my brother and I taken 3rd February 1963. I used as my inspiration the lovely shades of green in the painting as well as the pinks in the flowers. To keep with the vintage style I used lots of inking with Ranger Coffee Ink, lovely ribbons, small brown buttons, large owl button (how gorgeous is that) butterflies fussy cut from Collections, die cuts, prima stamp and wooden love from Craft Queen. I used creamy brown thread for sewing and leftover thread was tucked under elements on the page. The large green and slightly smaller pink flower I made and like the rest of the page inke...

Natures Splendour

Image
I recently went for a lovely stroll around Orange Botanical Gardens with a dear friend Sharon. Of course I took my camera with me as spring is such a beautiful, and fav, time of the year here, with the amazing zoom I have on it I took this gorgeous pic of a honeyeater doing its thing. Fast forward to the latest challenge at Kraft Plus Challenges which is Inspired by Nature and I knew that I had the perfect pic for it. I used a couple of different stamps - Kaisercraft Arty and Prima Marketing, Lindys Stamp Gang Mist, Scrapmatts leaf, dyed muslin, die cut leaves and twig, black tiny twine, small prima green flower, lasercut chippy butterfly, larger handmade flower, brown leaves and for the nature element seed pods. Loved this challenge so go and have a look at all the amazing ideas there already. Hugs and love Annette xo

Image
Ok if anyone is still linked to or following this blog hold your socks cause I'm blowing out the cobwebs and I'm back baby. Anyway enough frivolity I would like to share my take on the awesome challenge over at Kraft plus March Challenge which is all that glitters. I decided to go the gold way and the perfect pic is this beautiful sunset photo from when I was in Fiji.  I used lots of gold embossing, gold stamping and stencilling, gorgeous scrapmatts chippies (leaves and dragonflies), gold prima flowers and black alpha stickers, washi, cw stencil and gold material star from Craft Queen as well as strips of pp from Kaisercrafts All that glitters range and the word Magical is from Twiddlybitz. The larger chippie and little gold shelly type stars and hearts and silver boat wheel charm are from my stash as is the plasterers tape which I stamped with gold ink. Just love how this all came together, and pretty quick as well. Hugs and love till next time Annette

CSI #122

Image
Hi again would love to share with you all my latest page as Special Investigator at CSI. Loved the Case File for this one and as a bonus there is a sketch to help add to the creative process.  The colour palette is so fresh and lovely definately not colours that I would normally chose to work with and I think that is so much of the appeal for this site. Orange Sherbet -  orange, taken from the flower in the middle  - 254.161.84 Guacamole -  avocado green, taken from the sprig  - 152.161.106 Linen Napkin -  white, taken from the highlights of the flower at the top -  255.255.255 Placecard  - black, taken from the menu - 43.33.24 Herb Sprig  - celadon green, taken from the sprig  - 210.219.16 I found the sketch challenging but once I found my pics the rest fell into place so easily. And here is the end result of how I put it all together, the quote on the tag is one that I found online and tweaked a bit to make it suit ...

CSI - #121

Image
Wow..... how exciting I have been asked by the lovely Debbi Tehrani to be a Special Investigator for the month of May at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration . I cannot begin to say how delighted I am and deeply honoured, there is such amazing talent not only on their DT but also with all the other Special Investigators as well. The colour pallette for this weeks challenge is just gorgeous and they  lend themselves to any type of pic whether it be about your home or whatever else you chose. Merlot   -  deep burgundy red, taken from the pillow  - 102.26.26 Champagne -  ivory, taken from the candle  - 244.235.226 Pillar Candle -  white taken from the light in the window, - 255.255.255 Ice Bucket  - light gray, taken from the carpet - 208.204.193 Bow Tie  - black, taken from the tables - 22.17.11  I knew immediately (well after a bit of a think and a walk around the house with the camera) how I wanted to solve this Case File. MY HAPPY PLACE

Image
Recently on Facebook a friend asked us all to share pics of our craft spaces, wow some of the women who shared have the most amazing rooms, full of so much product, while others had corners in offices, lounges etc. I am lucky that I live alone and have a whole room all for my craft, it looks out over the back yard and has lots of gorgeous light. While not a large room it has plenty of room for what I need. It has been a constant evolution since I moved into this house last September and I am sure there will be more changes to come.    I got this great desk from my brother, and while it is not really meant to have a chair underneath, as my knees have found out a few times, I just love the surface and the three drawers that go the full length of the desk, great for storing a long armed stapler. The storage unit on the left came from Office Works and the smaller cube unit with storage containers came from Bunnings. Glass jars and vases in various shapes and s...

Lunar Eclipse

Image
Hi all due to some cloud I missed seeing the amazing red in the moon last night, but I still managed to get some pretty good pics. Took these sitting on the back landing and resting my camera on the railing. Thanks for looking Hugs and love Annette x

Vintage with a twist

Image
I would like to share with you all a very precious page, it has a pic of my parents in their early twenties, so would have been taken mid to late 1959. I adore this pic so much, how young and in love they look, unfortunately they have both passed (much before their time) and the marriage didn't last but I will always have this pic capturing a lovely moment. Used lots of stamping (all Kasiercraft) as are the flowers, except for the small cream ones (they are from Craft Queen along with the pink pearl strands and ribbons), rhinestone flourish and small lemon and green pearls. Some gorgeous Scrapmatts chippies and wooden words. This was my last DT page for Orange Paperie & Co, after nearly two years I have decided to have a bit of a break, I have so enjoyed my time there but am very lucky that Kim, Mary and I managed to get together reasonably regularily along with one of the new DT Bec, so in some ways it is like I haven't left. Hugs and love till next time ...
